Voice Cloning Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using GenScript's voice cloning and synthesis features ("Voice Services"), you agree to be bound by these Voice Cloning Terms of Service ("Voice Terms") in addition to our general Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Voice Services.

2. Voice Rights and Ownership

2.1 Your Voice Rights

You retain all rights to your voice and vocal characteristics. By using the Voice Services, you grant GenScript a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to:

• Process and analyze your voice recordings for the purpose of creating voice profiles
• Generate synthetic speech using your voice profile for content you create
• Store your voice data securely for the duration of your account

2.2 Prohibited Voice Sources

You may only create voice profiles from voices for which you have explicit rights. You may NOT:

• Clone voices of other individuals without their written consent
• Use copyrighted audio content without proper licensing
• Create voice profiles of public figures, celebrities, or other third parties
• Impersonate others or create misleading content

3. Consent Requirements

3.1 Self-Cloning

When creating a voice profile of your own voice, you confirm that you are the sole owner of your vocal characteristics and have the right to use them for content creation.

3.2 Third-Party Voice Cloning

If you wish to clone another person's voice, you MUST:

• Obtain written, explicit consent from the voice owner
• Provide proof of consent upon request
• Ensure the voice owner understands how their voice will be used
• Respect any limitations or conditions set by the voice owner

3.3 Consent Template

We recommend using the following consent template:

"I, [Name], hereby grant [Your Name/Company] permission to create a digital voice profile of my voice using GenScript's voice cloning technology. I understand this profile will be used to generate synthetic speech for [specific purpose]. This consent is valid from [start date] to [end date] and may be revoked at any time by written notice."

4. Acceptable Use Policy

4.1 Permitted Uses

Voice Services may be used for:

• Creating YouTube videos and other content with consistent narration
• Educational and informational content
• Entertainment content that clearly discloses the use of synthetic voice
• Personal projects and creative works

4.2 Prohibited Uses

You may NOT use Voice Services for:

• Fraudulent or deceptive activities
• Creating deepfakes or misleading content
• Harassment, defamation, or harm to others
• Political manipulation or spreading misinformation
• Violating any applicable laws or regulations
• Commercial use without appropriate disclosures

5. Disclosure Requirements

When using synthetic voice in your content, you MUST:

• Clearly disclose that the voice is AI-generated or synthetic
• Include disclosure in video descriptions on platforms like YouTube
• Use appropriate labels or watermarks when required by platform policies
• Never misrepresent synthetic voice as a real person speaking

Example disclosure: "This video uses AI-generated voice narration created with GenScript."

6. Data Protection and Privacy

6.1 Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your voice data:

• Encryption of voice data at rest and in transit
• Secure storage with access controls
• Regular security audits and updates
• Limited access to voice processing systems

6.2 Data Retention

Voice profiles and associated data are retained for the duration of your account. Upon account deletion or specific request, all voice data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

6.3 Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, share, or transfer your voice data to third parties. Voice processing is performed using our secure infrastructure and trusted AI partners bound by confidentiality agreements.

7. Intellectual Property

Content created using Voice Services remains your intellectual property. However, you grant GenScript a license to use anonymized voice metrics for improving our services. This does not include your actual voice recordings or identifiable characteristics.

8. Compliance with Laws

8.1 Geographic Restrictions

Voice Services availability may vary by jurisdiction. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with local laws regarding:

• Voice rights and biometric data
• Synthetic media regulations
• Privacy and data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
• Content disclosure requirements

8.2 Age Restrictions

Voice Services are only available to users 18 years or older. Voice profiles of minors are strictly prohibited, even with parental consent.

9. Liability and Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold GenScript harmless from any claims arising from your use of Voice Services, including but not limited to:

• Unauthorized use of third-party voices
• Violation of voice rights or privacy
• Creation of harmful or deceptive content
• Breach of platform policies where content is published

10. Termination and Suspension

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to Voice Services for violations of these terms. Upon termination:

• Your voice profiles will be deleted
• You will lose access to voice generation features
• Existing generated content remains yours but cannot be regenerated

11. Updates to Voice Terms

We may update these Voice Terms as technology and regulations evolve. Significant changes will be communicated via email and platform notifications. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of new terms.
